Weekly Wrap Up

The first full week of the baseball season is coming to an end. There are some things we all know would happen like the Tigers sitting atop the AL Central and some surprises like the Marlins winning 5 games and being in first place in the NL East.

The Marlins got two very good pitching performances from their young stud Jose Fernandez and a lot of offense from their big guy Giancarlo Stanton. I don’t think the Marlins will play this well all year and I think they will still finish under the Braves and Nats but they will give the Mets a run at third place in the East. Fernandez is showing that he has the stuff to be the best pitcher in the league and Stanton is healthy. They can be a scary team.

Mark Trumbo is off to another hot start to the season. He loves starting out great and tailing off after the All-Star break. Its just too bad Arizona isn’t capitalizing on this offensive outburst by Trumbo as they are only 2-7 on the year.

Its no surprise that King Felix is leading the league in strikeouts or that Yu Darvish made his season debut today and dominated the Rays (I was in attendance of course wearing my Darvish shirt).

What we should be surprised about is the Astros have won three games. Some experts picked them to win 3 games all year and they did it in the first week. Scott Feldman has looked great in his first two starts for them winning both of them and only letting up one earned run in  13.2 innings.

What’s most important is baseball is back people. We have seven more months of this wonderful sport. There will be some tight races for the division winners and a Triple Crown watch. This year should be a great one, lets all enjoy it.

  2. It won't last long. He isn't striking out enough guys. Eventually he will get hit around if that doesn't change.
